About Ms. Bennett

Ms. Bennett is in her thirty-first year of teaching.  Ms. Bennett has been in Columbia County her entire career where she started off as Assistant Director of Bands at Evans High School.  After three years at Evans High School, Ms. Bennett moved to Columbia Middle School.  Ms. Bennett is beginning year twenty-eight at Columbia Middle School where she is Director of Bands.  Ms. Bennett has a Bachelor's Degree in Music Education from Georgia Southern University, a Masters Degree in Education from Troy University, and an Education Specialist Degree from Augusta State University.
 
Ms. Bennett is a professional bassoonist and plays with many area groups including Augusta Symphony, The Augusta Players, Savannah River Winds, Aiken Civic Orchestra, and many area churches.  Ms. Bennett served many years as the  Assistant Marching Band Director at Grovetown High School  as well Georgia Music Educators Association District Ten Chair.  Ms. Bennett is an active clinician and adjudicator in both Georgia and South Carolina.  She is also on staff with CampEXTRAVABANDZA, a middle school summer camp. Ms. Bennett received the Golden Apple Award in 2016 and was teacher of the year for Columbia Middle School in 2001.
 
In her spare time, Ms. Bennett enjoys traveling, Body Pump, bicycling, aerobics and volunteering at the Golden Harvest Food Bank.  Ms. Bennett is the proud owner of six cats and three dogs and is very passionate about animal rescue.  Soon Ms. Bennett plans to win the Mega Millions lottery, retire and travel the world!!  Bon Voyage!  Adventure Awaits!
