The purpose of this class is to teach the basic concepts of life science and to create an interdisciplinary learning environment that harbors critical thinking and innovation.  As a result, this class will involve traditional learning avenues, project-based learning, inquiry labs, and the incorporation of other disciplines such as math and technology. Students should be prepared to work both in class and at home in order to achieve the goals for this class.

        • Textbook
        • 3-ring Binder
        • College-ruled Notebook Paper
        • Ink pens (blue or black)/Pencils
        • Colored Pencils
        • Glue Stick(s)
        • 3x5 Index Cards
 

OTHER SUGGESTED MATERIALS

    • Highlighters (2 different colors)
    • Scissors
    • Agenda Book - for writing down assignments/due date, etc.

ELECTRONIC DEVICES

Technology is a powerful learning tool.  While we will utilize the use of technology in this classroom, this will be done at times specified by the teacher.  Students may use an electronic device ONLY at an approved time and in the way specifically outlined by the teacher. Cell phones must stay in your backpack unless permission is given.


CLASS GRADING

Each 9 weeks’ grade will be determined as follows:

Formative Assessments = 40%

Summative Assessments = 60%
