Sixth Grade Latin America, the Caribbean and Canada, Europe, and Australia Sixth grade is the first year of a two-year World Area Studies course. Sixth grade students study Latin America, Canada, Europe, and Australia. The goal of this two-year course is to acquaint middle school students with the world in which they live. The geography domain includes both physical and human geography. The intent of the geography domain is for students to begin to grasp the importance geography plays in their everyday lives. The government/civics domain focuses on selected types of government found in the various areas so that students begin to understand the variety of governments in the world. The economics domain builds on the K-5 economics standards; however, the focus shifts from the United States to how other countries answer the basic questions of economics. The history domain focuses on major events in each region during the twentieth and twenty-first centuries.

These assignments are only for those who are missing items and have not turned in these assignments over our Learn from home experience. If you have completed these assignments and see a grade in the Parent/Student portal, then please ignore this and make sure this weeks assignment is done and the Quick Check is taken.
I will be working on grades today as they are due from me by the end of the day. Check this doc out and see if you have failed to do an assignment and make up your tests. Let me know when you have turned in late work so I can check it and input the grades.

Due:
This week we will be looking at our last standard. It is a geography standard that investigates the factors that influence where people live and what and who they trade with. Today and tomorrow you will read a page that explains these factors and then review a slide show in which you will be hypothesizing where you believe most people live and why. You will also be looking at the resources that are available in various countries and determining what they might export or import. You will have a quick check over this tomorrow.
Due: May 5
5.4.20-5.5.20 Factors that Influence Where People Live
Read through the information sheet. Go through and answer the questions on the google slides. You do not have to type in your answers because I have already provided them for you. However, you will have a graded assignment later this week in which you will be required to answer questions that are similar. So it is SUPER important that you try to answer them and then check your work.
